Ingredients

  •  1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  •  1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 4 hot dogs
  •  sticks of mozzarella cheese (cut to the same length as the hot dogs)
  • Wooden skewers
  • Panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • Ketchup, mustard, or sugar for topping

Instructions

    1. Prepare the Skewers or Hot Dog Buns
    2. Make the Batter:  Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. The batter should be thick enough to coat the hot dogs and cheese without dripping off.
    3. Coat the Hot Dogs and Cheese:   - Pour the batter into a tall glass or a container that can easily fit the skewers.   - Dip each skewer into the batter, making sure it is fully coated.   - Roll the coated skewer in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick.
    4. Fry the Hot Dogs:   - Cook these in heated up oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C).   - Carefully place the coated skewers into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.   - Remove the hot dogs from the oil and drain on paper towels.
    5. Serve!
