About the Irish Slammer

Get ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the most traditional way with the Irish Slammer recipe!

This classic drink is the perfect way to toast to St. Paddy’s with friends and loved ones.

The Irish slammer, also known as the Irish car bomb drink, is a type of boilermaker that was first introduced in Northern Ireland by Charles Burke Cronin Oat in Wilson’s Saloon.

Some more alternative names are the Dublin drop, or the Irish bomb shot most commonly used during St. Patrick’s day celebrations.

From there, this Irish stout mixed with an Irish shot became popular among the Irish, and for good reason.

Mixing a stout beer with a creamy shot became a long drink with stunning visual effects.

Tips and Variations:

  • For a kick of energy, try mixing an energy drink into a glass of beer, such as a Red Bull. The coffee flavors in the glass of Guinness will combine to make an explosive effect with the quick consumption of Red Bull and Irish whiskey, adding to the excitement factor.
  • A lot of people have recommended this, which is to substitute the Irish cream with Bailey’s Irish cream mixed with green food coloring, ultimately making green beer. This has similar ingredients, but the Irish mix of Irish cream with green will make a drink St. Paddy would be proud of.
  • Substitute the whiskey for Jameson Irish whiskey to make almost a jäger bomb. The Jameson whiskey will add a bitter taste that is enjoyable.
